Ramune gained the qualification of general practice doctor in Kaunas Medicine Institute in 1982 and provided primary and continuing medical care for patients in the community. In 1995 she obtained the Masters of Social Work degree and in 2003 she defended her dissertation on social innovation, earning a doctorate in Social Sciences. Working together with colleagues she developed new social care establishments and programmes (Kaunas House of Generations, Centre of Pregnancy Crises, Child Dignity Unit, Programmes of Nursing at Home, Education of Professional Supervision, Educational Programme of Working with Families and etc.). At the same time she worked as a teacher at Vytautas Magnus University, after Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (previously Kaunas Medical University). In her practice and research she endeavored to integrate biomedical and social sciences. She was reading lectures and giving presentation at universities of Netherlands and Sweden, was theses advisor of over one hundred of bachelor and master students in Lithuania. In 2011-2012 working as Minister Advisor in Ministry of Social Security and Labour of Lithuanian Republic she initiated establishment and development of integrated care (assisted social care and nursing services at home) in Lithuania. She published alone or together with co-authors 6 books (monographies, teaching handbooks and manuals), 24 scientific and over 30 popular articles.
