Researcher, social consortium coordinator

Jurgita is the coordinator of a social consortium "Healthy diet for aging society". She is a researcher in the field of safety and quality evaluation of food raw materials and products at the Aleksandras Stulginskis University of Lithuania. For many years she helped students and businesses to develop new products using non-traditional materials, which are safe, healthy, functional, sugar-free, gluten-free, nutritional value rich products (bars, cakes, gruel, jams, juices, etc.). She also participated in international project Eureka E! 6855 "ECORAW" (2012-2015) „Higher functionality food products from organic vegetable raw materials“. Right now Jurgita participate as a project manager in “Innovation voucher” “Non-traditional raw materials search of the new food product development” 2013-2017. (Agency for Science, Innovation and Technology ( MITA)). Jurgita's involvement in “The Silver wave” project stems from the strong conviction that to improve nutrition for the elderly, we need to focus our efforts on developing products tailored to seniors by using the current food processing instruments. The research will focus on vegetables and fruits and as emerging literature connects higher intake of vegetables and fruits to improved health outcomes, including mortality, disability, chronic diseases and other geriatric conditions.
